|Valentine’s Day Getaway|

I’m still on my Valentine sugar high! My husband and I had the nicest little vacation to Pittsburgh on Valentine’s Day. We both took a personal day from work to travel to Pittsburgh. It was the first time we’ve been away from the baby and it was SO refreshing.
We started the day by eating at our new local bakery. The bakery is such a downtown gem. It is adorable and has the cutest storefront. I had the sweetest waffle (literally). We also bought the yesterday’s doughnuts for $1.00 for our car ride…..because what’s a car ride without snacks?!

We arrived at our hotel mid-day and it was nothing short of fabulous. We stayed at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco. It was the most eccentric hotel I’ve ever stayed at in the business district of Pittsburgh. I loved the way each room was designed including the lobby. They even had a Valentine writing desk in their lobby. We had fun just hanging enjoying each other’s company until the evening. Walking around and exploring the city we’ve been to dozens of times but it never gets old. We made it back to the hotel for complimentary wine hour. Yep, complimentary wine hour. We definitely took advantage of that. Free cookies to boot!

We took an Uber to the main event at the Carnegie Music Hall. Tom Segura. Tickets I bought the hubby for Christmas. We enjoy his podcasts after the baby sleeps and he was nothing short of hilarious. He still has us laughing like little kids. I would highly recommend his event. Perfect date night!

After the show the plan was the Casino. I love the Wheel of Fortune slot. I’ve pressed my luck way too many times on that machine. I did hit big once. It was amazing… but that’s a story for another time. By the time the show was finished, we were exhausted. My new bed time is 9:00 thanks to the baby. We decided Uber Eats sounded more appealing so that’s what we did. Pizza and Root Beer… YUM!
The next day we were so ready to see the baby we just decided to get a small breakfast, hit up Starbucks and head home. We did drink our Starbucks in the lobby of the William Penn which is so beautiful! On the way home we had to make on last stop at Peace, Love and Little Donuts. THEY ARE SO GOOD. Little doughnuts made fresh just as my great-grandma used to do. We got some extra to take home as a thank you to the grands for keeping our baby.

To make our trip even better it is President’s Day weekend! Extra days off! I hope you enjoyed your Valentine’s Day.
Thanks for keeping up,
Sarah
|Self Care|

Don’t ever forget to take care of YOURSELF. Ever since having my little one |I’ve learned| you can’t pour from an empty cup. I felt pretty down about myself after birth (7 months ago) and I didn’t know what to do.
I had a very difficult post-partum recovery. I didn’t realize it would be so rough physically AND emotionally. Thank God I am blessed with such an easy-going baby (he takes after his dad) and loving family.
My anxiety increased after the baby, so I started doing small things for myself each day to relax. It seems to get easier as time goes on, but here are a few things I do to take care of myself.
| Take a bath |
I make it a priority to take a nightly bath because it makes me feel relaxed before bed. It makes me rest well. I did this before the baby, too. I do this after the baby goes to bed for the night so I can truly relax (and Pinterest my heart out!)
|Exercise|
Yep! THIS is a challenging task to complete, but I try to do it each day. I rarely make it to the gym ( I feel blessed when I do – shoutout to my mom and mother-in-law for making it possible!) When I do make it to the gym, I go with my husband because it’s like a “date” AND the gym is where we met. If I can’t make it to the gym, I work out at home- even if it is for 20 minutes! My child will literally sit and watch. I must look pretty funny because he giggles the entire time.
|Primp|
I set aside 15 minutes to get ready for the day. When I’m ready for the day, I am in a better mood. I have a quick hair and makeup routine that I do before the baby wakes. If there is extra time, I park it on the couch and drink a warm coffee.
|Treat myself|
I do one thing a month to treat myself. Lately, it has been lash extensions. They make me feel glam and make my morning routine so fast. Contact me if you want to know where I go! My lash girl is pretty awesome!
I know these things may sound vain, but they truly make me feel better. When I feel better, it is beneficial for my family. I must add that some of these things wouldn’t be possible without my family. I am blessed to have my family right in town!
As an added bonus, I indulge. If I want the doughnut in the break room …. I have it! No guilt. Eat the dang doughnut. You deserve it.
I hope you’re keeping up!

|MONTHLY GLAM|

Monthly subscriptions have been pretty popular for the past few years! I have had my fair share of monthly subscription bags and boxes. Trying new products are my jam….especially beauty products!
What subscriptions are worth it?
Three years ago I could NOT WAIT to get my hands on an ipsy glam bag. It did not disappoint. Let’s get straight to it…first of all your glam bag comes in a shiny, pink envelope (LOVE THIS!) It makes me giddy to see it sticking out of my mailbox. It’s just a sweet surprise to get in the middle of a long work week. Each month your pink envelope comes with one fun make-up bag and 5 travel-size products. The products inside are skin care, hair care, make-up, nail polish and more! All of the products are name brand (I’m talking Tarte, iT Cosmetics, the whole nine yards!)
When you set up your ipsy account you can choose which products you like and which would be most suitable for your skin and hair. You can also choose which brands you like….from drug store to high end. It’s very easy and quick.
Did I mention this is only $10 a month?! FREE SHIPPING
If you like what you receive ipsy offers the full size product at a sale price! This is a fun way to try out new products without wasting money. And the products I don’t use….I share with my mom and gal pals! The make-up bags can be repurposed for just about anything. I like to use mine to hold small things in my purse. You can leave reviews on all the monthly products to earn points for special gifts.
This little subscription bag makes me happy. It brings a little joy to my week. It’s a reasonable price. Check it out!
When my January bag comes I will post what is inside this month. Follow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/weyerkeepingup/

|2019| Resolutions

Greetings!
Two weeks ago I was in the drive-thru line at the nearest coffee chain on my way to work. It was busy and I was exhausted. The baby woke up earlier than usual, which messed up my morning routine, and it was two days before holiday break. I was growing really impatient…wondering what was taking so long? It was finally my turn to pay and the cashier said it had already been taken care of. INSTANT MOOD BOOST. I, in turn, continued to pay it forward and drove to work. My morning mood changed so quickly. Something so simple and so kind can really turn things around. Whoever you are: thank you.
Fast forward to today: I hope your 2019 is off to a great start. Are your resolutions in place? I like resolutions; however, they are HARD!
I always kick off the New Year swearing to live a little healthier. You know, eat cleaner and attend the gym….THAT resolution. This year with a new baby at home and working full-time, I know my typical resolution is floating back in 2018. This year I am striving to do something more soul-fulfilling: complete one small act of kindness a week.
I don’t have as much time on my hands as I used to. I’d actually love to spend more time in the gym and prepping healthier meals this new year, but I know that’s not realistic for me.
One small act of kindness a week is something I know I can achieve.
Have you ever paid for someone’s Drive thru order? Have you ever complimented a stranger? Have you ever let someone skip ahead of you in line at the grocery store? How did it make you feel? These little things mean a lot to me and make my spirit feel good. I resolve to do more of this is 2019.
I just learned my local coffee shop (Greenbean Coffee House, for locals) offers suspended coffee. A suspended coffee is the advance purchase of a coffee for someone who may come in and need one with no questions asked. I LOVE this. Check out your local coffee shop (pizza shops, too) and see if they do this. If not, it doesn’t hurt to ask.
A busy mom, struggling college student, a new empty nester, whose day could you turn around?
I’ve compiled a list of small acts to hold myself accountable in 2019. Are you with me?
Until next time,
Sarah

Hello Friends! I just wanted to do a quick intro about who I am and what |Weyer Keeping Up| is all about. My name is Sarah Weyer and I’m a 27 year old living in Pennsylvania.
